Stomp STOMP by Brothers Johnson 1980

- On The Brothers Johnson Greatest Hits 1987 & 1996 A&M Records 31454 0552 2

Another one of my favourite groups - good basslines & beats. All of their first four albums went gold; Quincy Jones helped with this. Look Out For #1 produced disco-groove classic "Thunder thumbs and lightnin' licks" - the flute says it all. Most memorable vocal? "LSD - a haaa". Same album gave "Get the funk out ma face", "Dancin' and Prancin'" and slow-funk "The Devil". Right On Time gave the title track, very funky instrumental "Brother Man" and yielded million seller single "Strawberry letter 23", originally written six years earlier. Blam! gave disco numbers like "Ain't we funkin' now", "Blam!", "Ride-o-rocket" and superb instrumental "Streetwave". Forth Quincy Jones produced album, Light Up The Night, gave huge dancefloor success with "Stomp", as well as the title track.
