Dancing in the
street by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas 1964 (yes 1964).
In the late
80s Martha Reeves was reunited with the original Vandellas, and her roller-coaster carrer
had come a circle. Being from Detroit, where she was born in 1941, it was perhaps
inevitable that she should have graduated to the Motown label, initially as a secretary,
occasionally as backup singer, notably for Marvin Gaye, then as singer on demos of new
Motown songs, and ultimately credited singer with the Vandellas. This song was written by
William Stevenson and Marvin Gaye and was a huge it in 1964. Try this CD Martha Reeves
